THE PARENTING SAGA

Recently, I was at the P.T.A organized by the school where I tutor, but it was surprising that focus was not on money. This was supposed to be a norm, even though there was a notice of increment. The main focus was on parenting.

Parenting is becoming difficult in this our era, the world is becoming complicated, and this complications has rendered the old model of parenting obsolete. It's unfortunate to know that the young ones that are bereft of proper upbringing or have refused to adhere to home training, are now becoming parents. What do you expect them to pass on? Definitely, tye cycle of immoral and improper upbringing would be passed on.

A video circulated on Twitter recently; a young mother giving her son, not more than three years of age alcohol to drink. Wow! Free parenting at its best, but the health implications on the child, that's child abuse. We were brought up in an hard way by our parents, you might term it whatever you want to based on contemporary standards, but they made us what we are today.

Children today are becoming smarter than before, with the aid of technology and social media, they tend to know more and are able to influence their parents. More work then lies in the hands of parents. As parents, you need to know the best model to bring up your child; read more, do lots of research, pray harder. Don't come and dump your responsibility as parents on the society at large.

We tend to forget that parents are the first teachers, and the home which is the smallest unit of the society has a lot to do in forming the child. If they lose it at home due to poor parenting, the society which is already filled with moral decadence would help them negatively; filling them with the fruits of vice.

Dear parents and parents to be, you should know that when you don't bring up your children properly, you are adding more burden and complications to the society.

Heal the world and make it a better place by training your children well.
