Your Wedding Day: Noise or Quiet
Your Wedding Day: Noise or Quiet?

One thing you should know about Africa is that we celebrate life. The journey from birth to death is always celebrated; naming ceremonies, birthdays, promotions, wedding ceremonies, burials, e. t. c. They are not only celebrated, but celebrated in a lavish way.
Weddings in Nigeria are not exempt. Starting from the wedding list given by the bride's family to the groom to provide, to the bride's price, and to sum it up, the celebration itself. Most Nigerian weddings are costly to organize.
When it comes to weddings in Nigeria, it's always a thing of joy when you have the populace around you, you sew Aso-Ebi, you give souvenirs, you provide food and you receive lots of gifts. To be candid with you, to organize a Nigeria wedding, you will spend nothing less than a million naira, which statistically is way more than that.
I remember attending an important wedding in Nigeria. By 8:00 a.m. in the morning, the elders met with the groom to ascertain if the wedding list had been provided. After that, the elders went into privacy with the father of the bride to negotiate the bride's price.
After that, they went to the church; the priest, the bridegroom, few members of both families; no choir, no invited guest. After that, the different age grade systems were entertained from the wedding list that the groom provided. No wedding cake. What a quiet wedding.
You would ask me, "Am I sure this is a Nigeria wedding?" I think there is beginning to be a paradigm shift. A certain user on Twitter tweeted that his wedding was attended by ten people, including him and his wife. After the court wedding, he organized a buffet for the ten people. What a quiet wedding with a low cost of organizing.
Societal and peer pressure have made wedding in Nigeria a thing to be scared of by most men, this is because the society dictates a noisy and lavish Nigeria wedding. Thus, they (men) want to save enough money to meet such expectations, hence, marrying late. We tend to forget that there's life after marriage.
You have to know that if you go for a noisy wedding, you will spend more; if you opt for a quiet wedding, you will spend less. But, if the financial resources are available, choose what best suits you; if the financial resources are not available, you have to be wise.
It is awkward when you have to borrow money and be at the mercy of people just because you want to organize a Nigeria wedding, that orientation has to stop.
Wedding in Nigeria, your wedding day: noise or quiet; choose wisely.
